James Blake

If I like an album, chances are Brian Eno wrote/produced track 7.

Aphex Twin

Aphex Twin is so strange... I first listened to him by watching his music videos. Let's just say they are unsettling*.
What is almost more unsettling is listening now to more of his music. It is some of the most peaceful, beautiful sounds I have ever heard. It is this contradiction, between nightmarish videos and hauntingly ethereal music that gives me a semi melancholic/nostalgic emotion akin to feeling like I'm going to die from asphyxiation in the most cleansing, unobtrusive way.

*Here is an artist's depiction of aphex twin:

This is why Thundercat is my favorite bassist (at the moment).

Albums

These are albums that, when mentioned, make me feel warm inside. Are they any good? Who knows. They came out this year.

Kanye West - Yeezus

James Blake - Overgrown

Earl Sweatshirt - Doris

Vampire Weekend - Modern Vampires of the City

Daft Punk - Random Access Memories

Atoms for Peace - AMOK

These are albums, when mentioned, I am sad I don't care about.

Animal Collective - Centipede Hertz

Jars of Clay - Inland

These are albums that are never mentioned. And I may or may not like them, but I never listen to them. I bet I'd like them though.

The National - Anthem

My Bloody Valentine - Loveless

And here's a picture of Panda Bear. Loved and not forgotten (and he's still alive, and he still makes music, and it really hasn't been that long, he's allover fine, really, as far as I know.)

Arcade Fire - Reflektor Music Review

Hmm it would seem that Arcade Fire's new album Reflektor is not doing so hot in the reviewing world. But wait, you may ask, what does the all-objective Disney review theory have to say about this?

(In case you don't know how it works, just watch both videos simultaneously, but cut the disney clip audio.)

You know, I had my reservations about this one (duh, reviews), but you know, it works, it really works! It totally subverts the theme of deception and disgrace of "not one of us", and makes the story seem to be about passing away into the afterlife as Win suggests. Thus the departure of the disgraced lion is allegorical. Also, let's be honest, I'm a total sucker for sad messages sung exuberantly. A dance song about dying, to me, is the best thing ever, which is kind of what this song is.
So, Reflektor, you are good music. Just goes to show that reviewers don't really know what's going on. They can't be trusted!

Music Review of Ho Hey by The Lumineers

Let us put the Disney principle into action with the popular 2013 Ho Hey by the Lumineers. Simply play both videos simultaneously and cut the audio of the Disney film.

What do you think? I think it sounds pretty good. Lumineers, you are good muisc.

Reflector

A Theory

I want to write about music.

Allow me to postulate a hypotheorum that came to me when listening the following two songs.

Echo - Incubus

Even The Saints Knew Their Hour Of Failure And Loss - The Body

If you are listening to something, and you can picture it in a Disney movie, then it is good music.

Band Names

Here's how it works.
I will come up with band names, and then look them up on google to see if they are already taken. If they are, I will link the name. If not, then send me a personal message so we can discuss royalty fees.

Wicker Console

Loud Noise

Sculpt Hands

Tell them I sent you.
